Urban Community Insurance Company was incorporated on February 28, 1967 under the laws of the State of New York and began business as a stock property/casualty insurer.

The name was changed to United Community Insurance Company on February 12, 1982.

The company was placed into liquidation, pursuant to an order entered on November 10, 1995.
